Despite COVID-19, the Deadline of May 26 To Challenge Real Estate Taxes In New York State Has Not Been Extended
(Submitted by E. Stewart Jones Hacker Murphy LLP)
The annual opportunity to challenge the assessment on your property opens May 1, 2020. During the next few weeks, until May 26, you must file a grievance in the community in which your property is located. The attorneys at E. Stewart Jones Hacker Murphy file on behalf of their clients each year to address excessive assessments on all types of commercial properties such as offices and retail centers, golf courses, and hotels, as well as industrial properties like warehouses, light and heavy manufacturing buildings.
We can assist you in investigating and, where appropriate, reducing your assessment based on our many years evaluating real property assessments and tax bills. We help you navigate the municipal administrative review process at the Board of Assessment Review and, as necessary, have the experience and reputation to take your case to trial. We have appeared in courts around New York and at all levels--the trial court, the Appellate Division and the Court of Appeals.
