CAP COM Donation Enhances MHANYS Training Center

The CAP COM Cares Foundation, the charitable giving arm of CAP COM Federal Credit Union, has announced its partnership with the Mental Health Association in New York State, Inc. (MHANYS).

Specifically, the CAP COM Cares Foundation has helped MHANYS furnish their Capital Region Training Center located on the fourth floor of 194 Washington Avenue in downtown Albany.

By donating $10,000 to MHANYS, the new training facility was able was re-open for individuals and families as a unique space for mental health education. The renovated facility features increased square footage, state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities, and improved seating and tables for 45 individuals. The enhanced video capabilities will allow trainers and trainees to be more accessible to the 26 MHANYS affiliates statewide.

Since the CAP COM Cares Foundation’s inception in 2003, more than $3.2 million has been donated to the local community.

CAP COM President/CEO Paula Stopera noted, “An organization like Amazon started in a small space with just a few people and look what it’s grown into. By helping MHANYS renovate their training room, it’s our dream that this community will become more educated on mental health awareness, one person at a time.”

CEO of the Mental Health Association in New York State, Glenn Liebman, offered his thanks to CAP COM. “We are very appreciative of the support of CAP COM in helping to fund MHANYS Capital Region Training Center. This Center is dedicated to providing training opportunities geared towards educating the community about mental health supports and resources and ending the stigma and misunderstandings surrounding mental health.”
