Berkshire Bank Hosts Xtraordinary Day in Five States on June 8

Creating Positive Impact with Employees Giving Back to Local Communities

Boston, MA - Berkshire Bank, a leading socially responsible community bank with office locations in New England and New York, will host Xtraordinary Day (X-Day) on Wednesday, June 8. All branches and offices across five states – MA, NY, VT, CT, and RI will close from 12pm - 4pm for concurrent day of service events. Closing the entire Company for the afternoon will harness the collective power of over 1,000 Berkshire employees to make a positive impact and strengthen the communities where we live, work, and raise families.

“Berkshire is a purpose-driven bank with a 175-year heritage of being an engine for positive change in our communities. Xtraordinary Day highlights that commitment in a revolutionary way demonstrating the very best of Berkshire, our people and the collective impact each of us can have working alongside dedicated community partners,” stated Gary Levante, SVP, Corporate Responsibility. He continued, “Volunteerism is a critical enabler and component to delivering on our multi-year multi-billion BEST Community Comeback as its only by working together to unleash the untapped potential within every community that we will create opportunities for everyone to thrive.”

For six (6) years, Berkshire Bank has hosted its signature Xtraordinary Day of service events. Due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, X-Day in 2020 and 2021 were held in a virtual format. This year will mark the first time since 2019 that the Company and its employees plan to return to neighborhoods for its day of service.

"We are looking forward to once again holding our Xtraordinary Day in the communities we serve as it is a source of pride for our employees who are eager to make positive contributions," said Lori Gazzillo Kiely, Director of the Berkshire Bank Foundation. "We're proud to dedicate an entire afternoon to lifting-up our communities and inspire our employees to support those in need through projects rooted in our dedication to local non-profit organizations.”

Berkshire plans to hold more than 45 in-person volunteer events. We also offer a virtual volunteer option, Xtraordinary Day Your Way. Some of the featured in-person events each market are listed below and include:

For over 175 years, Berkshire has been there to help its customers and communities. The company believes empowering the success of those it serves drives its own success. In addition to X-Day, each year the Foundation donates $3 million to nonprofits throughout the Bank's footprint. The Company also provides employees with paid time off to volunteer through its XTEAM® corporate volunteer program.
