architecture+ Hosts Learning Collaborative

architecture+ is hosting a week long forum that is bringing an international group of health and healthcare leaders to Troy for their thirteenth annual meeting. Members of the Learning Collaborative represent diverse participants in the health and healthcare industry and come from three countries. Participants represent the professions of healthcare administration, environmental psychology, architecture, and interior design. They share the common goal of improving health and healthcare for everyone, everywhere.

The Learning Collaborative was founded and is led by Dr. Wayne Ruga, FAIA. Dr. Ruga, is a world-renowned architect, scholar, and visionary. He has devoted his career to designing life-enhancing environments for health and healthcare. His contributions include founding the National Symposium on Healthcare Design in 1985, now known as the Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo, and the non-profit Center for Health Design in 1992, which is widely credited with initiating the evidence-based design movement through sponsored research.

Francis Murdock Pitts, FAIA, FACHA, Principal of architecture+, has been a member of the Learning Collaborative for six years. Mr. Pitts is internationally known for his planning and design work with psychiatric facilities and is also an active researcher, presenter, and publisher on topics related to improving the inpatient mental health environment.

All members of the group are thought leaders in their respective fields with the ability to influence the health and healthcare environment. They come together annually to share advances and innovations in their respective fields and inspire each other to initiate positive change.

One member of the group, Dr. Fran Fisher, is also an author and will be signing her book In the Name of God Why? Ex-Catholic Nuns Speak Out about Sexual Repression, Abuse & Ultimate Liberation at Market Block Books in Troy on Saturday, June 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
