Contact: Jeannine S. Garab
Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York, Inc.

Are You Interested in Joining our Board of Directors?

The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York provides an array of services to individuals with epilepsy, their families and caregivers in twenty-two counties of northeastern New York including the Capital Region, North Country and Upper Hudson Valley area. Our services include information and referral, service coordination, counseling, support groups, and school education programs. We also provide education to the community through our professional in-service training program.

Epilepsy is a neurological condition characterized by the tendency to have recurrent seizures. It will affect one in 26 people in our lifetime. One third of all people living with epilepsy continue to have seizures despite the treatments that are available. The mission of our organization is to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives.

The Epilepsy Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our Board is composed of individuals with a variety of professional backgrounds, and we are always looking for new individuals to share their time and talents. In order to continue these programs and expand our services to meet the needs of the community, we count on the valued commitment of our board of directors.

We ask all of our board members for the following commitments:
• Attend scheduled board meetings (5-6 meetings annually currently held on Thursday evenings)
• Serve on one committee (Board Development, Finance, Personnel, Advocacy, Audit)
• Serve on one special event committee (Confections in Chocolate Gala, Golf Tournament, or Walk to End Epilepsy)
• Support our various fundraisers throughout the year
• Participate in our annual Leadership Giving Campaign

If you are interested in being considered for membership on the Board of Directors as openings arise, please complete the attached application and return it with your resume to the address below.
