Capital Roots is striving to create a more vibrant and equitable food system in New York’s Capital Region. We work to reduce the impact of poor nutrition on public health by organizing community gardens, providing healthy food access, offering nutritional and horticultural education for all ages and coordinating urban greening programs in Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady and southern Saratoga Counties. Our mission is to nourish healthy communities by providing access to fresh foods and green space for all.

OBJECTIVE: To expand and enhance healthy, affordable food access opportunities to low-income individuals and institutions, through the Virtual Veggie Mobile and Smart Vending programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years of professional work experience. Similar community engagement experience preferred. Excellent computer and communication skills are essential. Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, positive attitude, ability to work with a diverse community and possess a genuine interest in the mission of our organization; plus the ability to lift 50 lbs.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Improve and maintain Capital Roots’ on-line market (the Virtual Veggie Mobile)
o Individual Buyers program: Expand the program through customer engagement, communications, order fulfillment, deliveries, technical support, and development of new partnerships
o Institutional Buyers program: Manage customer retention activities, including: sales, support, communications and marketing and outreach to new customers.
• Coordinate all Healthy Vending services with new and current partners by defining partnerships, installing educational materials, and engaging with customers, agencies, and stakeholders
• Assist with project data collection and grant reporting
• Assist with Food Hub programs and other organizational projects, as needed

SALARY & BENEFITS: This position is a full-time position (40 hours per week) paid at an hourly rate of $13.00/hr. We offer fully covered medical insurance and partially covered (75%) dental insurance upon hire (benefit valued at $7,500). In addition to generous vacation time, we observe 12 holidays – including three floating holidays – and offer paid personal and sick time. You also have the option to enroll in our 403b retirement plan. Flexible work environment.
