Assistant Shop Manager

Contact: Isaiah Short Lee
Capital Region Millwork Installations

Capital Region Millwork Installations provides comprehensive millwork procurement, installation and restoration. Since CRMI ownership opened the doors, with tool-belts on and the intention of providing careers for themselves, our dedicated team has provided turn-key installation packages for thousands of apartment units throughout Upstate New York.

CRMI excels in both the public and private sector commercial construction. CRMI maintains industry leading insurance coverages, in-house safety training and employee benefit packages. We have specialists in all areas of finish carpentry, including custom millwork fabrication on and off-site. CRMI also maintains a highly trained staff of commercial door and hardware experts who can perform large-scale installs and provide custom security and closure solutions.

CRMI began as a business proposition between two friends, reunited in business after a decade exploring the industry. Kevin and Isaiah bring together project experience from the coast of Maine to the snowy peaks of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, and over a decade of local industry experience and extensive supplier relationships.

CRMI has set a new benchmark for commercial millwork enterprises in Upstate New York and beyond. In 2016 the founders adopted the slogan: “We have coping skills.” Initially this mantra was a simple double entendre meant not only to confirm that we are trim carpenters, but also to create a smile or two. In the last 3 years we have come to realize that our “coping skills”, as they relate to lean project execution, relationship building, and overarching human resource management strategy, are unparalleled in the industry. CRMI’s commitment to excellence in the field, dynamic and holistic management, and our laser focus on team and family, will always set us apart.

As we expand in the Capital Region and beyond, we continue to need more support in many ways. One of the roles my partner Kevin and I fill is managing the shop.

This means, among other things:
keeping track of tool inventory and location
picking up broken tools and delivery of replacement
bringing tools back to the shop whenever they're not in use
repairing and maintaining tools whenever possible
picking up nail or other material orders and delivering to the shop or on-site
maintaining the company vans gas, fluids, tires, lights
working directly with ownership and other management to develop and implement systems regarding all the above duties

We need flexible, motivated people to help maintain the strong link between the office and field we have always maintained. This will begin as a 2-3 day per week position based on need and depending in number of applicants but could turn into a full-time position. You will be based out of our shop and office building. You will work directly with ownership and field management to coordinate duties. You will be driving a company vehicle during work hours.
