Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce ‘kicks-off’ the 37th Annual Troy Victorian Stroll

On Wednesday, November 6, the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce held a press conference at Franklin Plaza to formerly ‘kick-off’ the Troy Victorian Stroll. Now in its 37th year, the annual event attracts thousands to the heart of historic downtown Troy and features a wide variety of vendors and live entertainment for families to enjoy. Together with local elected officials and business owners, the Chamber’s press conference announced a number of new additions to this year’s Stroll.

“We’re incredibly proud to host and organize this rich, holiday tradition for our community to enjoy,” said Kate Manley, President of the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce. “The Victorian Stroll truly offers something for everyone, and we look forward to another memorable Stroll on Sunday, December 8.”

At the press conference, the Chamber officially unveiled a brand new website for the Victorian Stroll, built and designed by Troy Web Consulting. The new victorianstroll.com was built to simplify the user-experience in sorting through the wide variety of entertainment, attractions and dining options available on the day of the Victorian Stroll. Local businesses are encouraged to submit their events, entertainment and promotions planned for Stroll day to victorianstroll.com/attractions.

Additionally, the Chamber revealed the official poster for this year’s Victorian Stroll, which was designed by commercial illustrator and Rensselaer native, Randy Rumpf. The new poster embodies the rich Victorian architecture featured throughout Troy’s historic downtown. Free copies of this year’s Victorian Stroll poster are available for area businesses to pick-up at the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber’s offices on 90 Fourth Street in Troy.

The revival of tradition was also a theme of the night, as the Chamber hosted Triple-A-Designs at their press conference, a new LLC formed by a group of local artists. Triple-A-Designs seeks to carry on the tradition of the pewter Victorian Stroll ornaments originally designed by John Bloom of JK Bloom jewelry store.  Bloom’s annual ornaments were a staple collector’s item from each Stroll, 1999 through 2016. The new ornament for this year features a hummingbird design, paying homage to the original name of Mr. Bloom’s store. There will be a limited number of Stroll ornaments available this year, and they will be sold for $20 at various storefronts in downtown Troy on Stroll day, including Truly Rhe, Market Block Books, Flowers by Pesha and The Hart Cluett Museum. For more information visit Triple-A-Designs business page on Facebook.

The 37th Annual Troy Victorian Stroll will be held on Sunday, December 8 in historic downtown Troy from 11a.m. – 5p.m. For more information, please visit victorianstroll.com.
