Fenimore’s John Fox is Promoted to CEO

Fenimore Asset Management, the investment advisor to FAM Funds, announces that John Fox has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) while maintaining his position as Chief Investment Officer (CIO). As part of the firm’s succession plan, Fenimore’s Founder, Tom Putnam, will shift his attention to a broader strategic role as Executive Chairman. Mr. Putnam is also a Director on the Fenimore Asset Management board, Trustee on the FAM Funds board, and Co-Manager of FAM Funds. This transition comes at a time when we are very pleased with the performance of all three FAM Funds.*

Mr. Fox has been Fenimore’s CIO for the past four years and has been with the firm for nearly 24 years. In his new role as CEO and CIO, he will continue to work closely with other members of the senior leadership team, most notably Fenimore President Debra Pollard, and oversee the company’s strategic direction. He also serves as the primary communicator and educator of Fenimore’s long-term investment approach. Additionally, Mr. Fox continues to serve as Co-Manager of the FAM Value Fund and is a firm Principal.

“John has earned this promotion and I am thrilled to see him assume these new responsibilities,” said Mr. Putnam. “Our vision and values will not change. John has always been an advocate for our mission and his leadership will benefit our investors long into the future.”

“When I first visited Fenimore Asset Management more than two decades ago, I was impressed by the philosophy, process, and people that Tom Putnam had assembled,” stated Mr. Fox. “I feel the same today and am honored to have the privilege of continuing those traditions as CEO.”

Prior to joining Fenimore in 1996, Mr. Fox spent 10 years as a financial analyst and life insurance executive. He holds a BS from Fairfield University, MBA from the University of Connecticut, Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA, and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Mr. Fox is also active in the community.
