Program Director - Adaptive Sports

Reports To: Executive Director / COO
The mission of STRIDE Adaptive Sports is to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing year-round adaptive sport and recreational opportunities.
Job Summary – Support the mission of STRIDE Adaptive Sports by coordinating year-round sport and recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. Plan and facilitate STRIDE programs including Alpine Ski & Snowboard, Sled Hockey, Biking, Swimming and 15 other year-round programs and unique opportunities for youth and regional Wounded Warrior population. The Program Director is responsible for a wide range of duties including program planning and logistics, volunteer and participant recruitment, scheduling and communication, post-program reporting, database and equipment management.
This position is often the first point of contact for STRIDE volunteer instructors, participants, family members, community members, and partner organizations. It requires keen attention to detail with top-notch customer service skills. The program director will spend most of their time split between office-based work, outreach initiatives, and programs in the field.
Areas of Responsibility
• Responsible for Scheduling all aspects of locations and venues for each of our 18 programs year-round; and special events and occaisional Discovery days for new potential program development
• Assists with budgeting aspects of each program and helps identify funding program needs
• Supervises all volunteer leaders and volunteers
• Develops curriculum; Writes articles; press releases or blogs as they relate to programs for publication
• Manage recruitment, registration, scheduling, of STRIDE individual participants, groups and volunteers
• Manage the registration process, tasks may include speaking to prospective participants and volunteers, sending out paperwork, receiving and reviewing incoming documents, and communicating in a timely manner
• Maintain an effective online system for each program’s planning materials and documentation and Program Calendar on a rolling basis
• Communicate efficiently and effectively with a volunteer team of over 300 individuals
• Coordinate volunteer training in all related activities including scheduling, communication, material development, delivery, and feedback
• Schedule and communicate assignments for volunteers
• Respond to emails and voicemails
• Provide data entry support for program / administrative tasks
• Coordinate and uphold risk management policies and procedures related to
• Tracks metrics on program attendance
• Be a positive and professional representative of STRIDE in our community
• Comply with all STRIDE policies and procedures /and STRIDE values and culture
• Participate fully as a member of STRIDE staff and volunteer team
• Take on other duties and projects as identified
• Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of coordinating and leading recreation programs
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities
• Ability / willingness to learn adaptive equipment and facilities
• Exhibit a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and initiative
• Independence in completing tasks, decision making, and risk management
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to a positive, fun and team-oriented working environment
• Excellent group facilitation and team management skills
• Ability to work flexible hours; regular schedule including some weekends
• Savvy with various technology including Google Drive and PC based programs, Google Suite, MS Office, Adobe creative suite, social media platforms, and databases (Civi CRM experience a plus)
• Ability to lead or suppot fitness or sport pograms
• Valid Driver’s License; must verify own auto insurance
• Current First Aid and CPR training (or willingness to obtain within 90 days) a plus
• Clear background check and demonstration of a clean driving record
