Learn what you need to know from the legal perspective about pay equity.

For most employees, there are few areas of greater interest than employee compensation. According to a 2019 Glassdoor survey, 58% of all employees and 72% of women said they would not apply to work at a company where a pay gap exists.

For these reasons, pay equity has been a hot topic that we expect to get a lot of attention from the Biden Administration. Additionally, savvy NY employers will recall that NY not only requires employers ensure they are paying their employees equally for equal work, it also requires employers pay their employees equally for substantially similar work, without regard to any protected class.

In this webinar, we will discuss the practical implications of this change in law for NY-based employers, including:

  • How employers can identify areas of potential risk;
  • What NYS’s “substantially similar work” standard means and how it affects a pay equity analysis;
  • Permissible reasons for differences in pay;
  • Why now it is more important than ever for employers to be conducting regular pay equity analyses under attorney-client privilege

Margaret D. Stephenson, Esq. of Dowling Law will present on these legal considerations that all NY employers should be aware of, including how likely upcoming changes to federal laws under the new Presidential administration may add to your pay equity obligations.
