Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. Named Area’s Largest CPA Firm

The Albany Business Review has named Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. (TBC) as the area’s largest CPA firm, according to a list that ranks CPA firms based on the number of Certified Public Accountants employed in their Capital Region office. The list was published on Friday, February 2, 2018.

TBC has finished as the area’s largest firm for three consecutive years, making the top of the list in 2016, 2017, and now 2018. In 2012, the Firm was tied for first place. This year, as a result of key staff hires and an increased number of staff accountants passing the exam to become certified, TBC kept its rank in first place with 54 CPAsIn addition, TBC is ranked in the Top 300 Firms list - a national ranking of public accounting firms based on net revenue published by Inside Public Accounting. The Firm is also a regional leader based on revenue in the Mid-Atlantic area by Accounting Today.

The Firm, with 26 shareholders and partners and over 85 total employees, was founded in 1971.  TBC services business clients, not-for-profit organizations, government entities, employee benefit plans, and individuals in several different areas. These areas include accounting, auditing, tax, and advisory services such as trust and estate administration, pension plan administration, valuation and litigation services, and forensic accounting, among others.

“With accounting firms growing by mergers and acquisitions, we make it a priority to stay on top of the latest business trends to achieve growth,” said TBC Managing Partner James Drislane. “Without doing a merger since 2012, our increase in number of CPAs employed is a result of adopting new practices as they emerge to keep both our clients and our employees at the top of their game.”

While TBC’s local presence and client focus on area businesses is at the foundation of the Firm’s service philosophy, TBC has worked with clients outside of the Capital Region area for many years.

“With geographic barriers being eliminated by mobile devices and cloud computing, we continue to expand nationally and even internationally,” Drislane commented. “Millennials who join our Firm are intrigued by the ability to guide clients within our community and throughout the globe. This may be one incentive to pass the CPA exam so that they can have more challenging work and broader horizons for the impact of their work,” said Drislane.

As a member of CPAmerica International, an association comprised of approximately 80 medium sized CPA firms throughout the country whose motto is “knowledge through sharing,” many of the firm’s employees travel throughout the country for advanced training and networking.

The public accounting firms recognized in the Albany Business Review’s complete list were those with offices in Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, and Washington counties.
