Beauty with Julie at Bar Beauty & Co. Announces Two New Hires

Beauty with Julie at Bar Beauty & Co. has welcomed a new hair stylist, Monica Brady, and another eyelash extension artist, Samantha Przybylo, CMA, LE, RN. .

An Irish born hairstylist, Monica Brady was intrigued with hair from a very young age. In fact, Monica’s earliest memory of her love for hair was when she used to set up shop in the living room of her parents house in Ireland, pretending to do family, neighbors and dolls hair with a toy roller set and hairdryer that she had requested from Santa at the tender age of four. At age nine, Monica watched a documentary about The Vidal Sassoon Academy and knew she was witnessing a different way of cutting hair while she sat there in awe watching. Monica looked to her father and told him she would work there one day. At the age of fifteen, against her mother’s will, Monica found her first weekend job at a salon. After graduating from cosmetology school in Ireland, Monica began her apprenticeship with Ireland’s premier salons including Peter Mark, and spending her final years educating in Dublins top School, David Marshall, who had been a Manager at the Bond Street Vidal Sassoon, London. In 1995, Monica moved to New York City to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a Sassoon Stylist and Educator and began vardering (the first varderer in the USA) at Vidal Sassoon Fifth Avenue.

After completing her training she worked on 5th Avenue as a stylist, helping to train other assistants, and teaching on the west coast at the Santa Monica Academy, as well as platforming at the International Beauty Show. Later, Monica had the opportunity to join the Bumble and Bumble flagship in New York City, where she perfected the effortless low maintenance cuts that have become her signature. Under the guidance of Bumble and Bumble’s Michael Gordon and Howard and Raymond McLaren, Monica’s razor skills and eye was developed, fine tuned, and mastered. As a result, Monica became a prominent part of Bumble and Bumble’s education team, training assistants and stylists in house all over America and worldwide such as Japan, Germany and London. Monica’s exposure to the editorial world grew on a regular basis working alongside Laurent Phillipon, Ward and Dannis Lanni on Fashion week, shoots for Vogue, Marie Claire and Vanity Fair, as well as working on celebrities and models such as Trish Goff, Didi Conn, Christain Slater and Ashley Judd.

Monica has experienced various hair companies from around the corner shops to working behind the chair for the likes of Vidal Sassoon, Tony + Guy, and Bumble and Bumble. She has thoroughly enjoyed every piece of education she has received and is always striving to learn more. Monica’s passion for cutting has lead to the unique mix of precision scissor cutting of a graduated bob to the creative freedom of the straight edge razor. Her love for education has helped her continue to grow as a stylist. In 2016, Monica began her journey with the traveling team for Oribe Hair Care where she continues her passion for education. Monica is honored to be able to work for the Oribe team sharing their philosophy. She especially relishes in sharing and elevating others on their ongoing growth as stylists. A few of Monica’s career highlights include touring shows with the Bumble team, completing the vardering program and becoming a Vidal Sassoon Stylist, working backstage on fashion week for the likes of designers such as Betsy Johnson and Cynthia Rowley. In addition, Monica had the pleasure of assisting the Oribe Team and James Pecis at the R13 New York Fashion Week Show Fall 2017.
