Developed from more than two years of local focus groups and national market research, the Chamber is proud to offer its members and the regional business community a unique and innovative approach to the traditional community leadership program. The Leadership Institute is a skills based professional development program, offering interactive learning from the industry's most accomplished executives.
This competitive and highly beneficial program is an excellent opportunity to gain the valuable skills necessary to advance your career, while gaining insight on real life experiences. The Institute's mission is to provide an opportunity for individuals to develop leadership, team building and strategic thinking skills, thereby increasing their value to their organization and to the greater community.
The Leadership Institute integrates leadership skill building with valuable networking opportunities. As participants explore styles, examine options and establish relationships, they make a valuable contribution to their employers and the business community through their continuous development.
Sessions are conducted monthly at various locations throughout Rensselaer County and the Tech Valley region, beginning with an overnight retreat at Camp Chingachgook on Lake George. Topics for the sessions include: Leadership & Strategic Thinking; Communication; Balancing the Professional Career & Personal Life; Financial Management; Human Resources &Organizational Development; and Board Development & Service. The program concludes with an April graduation dinner and ceremony.
Ideal candidates for participation in The Leadership Institute are individuals who are poised to make the transition to a higher level within their organizations and are eager to advance professionally and to assume increased responsibility. They have constant thirst for learning and eagerly seek out educational opportunities in their work setting and in their personal lives. Professional development and career progression are important to them.
Tuition for the Class of 2018 is $2,100 for members and $2,600 for non-members. The tuition covers all program costs for the monthly sessions and the retreat, including program materials, meals and the graduation ceremony. One partial scholarship opportunity is available to a 501c(3) non-profit charitable organization and one to a small business applicant (25 employees or less) through the Leadership Institute Alumni Scholarship Fund. Requests for financial assistance will not affect consideration for participation.
